Plagiarism Policy

Any suspected cases of duplicate manuscript submissions will be handled in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Journal of Pubnursing Sciences (JPS) also adheres to the policies of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding overlapping publications.

JPS utilizes the Turnitin software to comprehensively detect plagiarism. Manuscripts are checked twice—once during the initial submission stage and again after revisions. The similarity index obtained is carefully evaluated for each manuscript, and a similarity rate of 20% or higher may be considered an indication of plagiarism.

Copying content from AI-based chatbots is strongly discouraged. Generative AI technologies should only be used to enhance the readability and language of a manuscript, not to produce its primary content. The use of such technologies must be carefully supervised by the authors, who are responsible for reviewing, editing, and ensuring the final work is accurate, complete, and free from bias. Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their work. For more information, please refer to the policy on AI usage in scientific writing.

The following steps may be taken to report plagiarism cases:

  1. Report the issue to the editor of the journal where the plagiarized article was published.
  2. Provide evidence, including the original paper and the suspected plagiarized paper, with relevant sections clearly marked. If the evidence is deemed valid, the editor will schedule a meeting to discuss the case.
  3. The editor of the journal that published the plagiarized article will coordinate with the editor of the journal that published the original article to resolve the issue. The author found guilty of plagiarism will be required to provide an explanation.
  4. If no response is received within the specified timeframe or the explanation provided is unsatisfactory, the article will be permanently retracted. Additionally, the offending author will be blacklisted and prohibited from submitting manuscripts to the journal for a minimum of five years.
  5. The head of the author’s affiliated institution will also be informed to take further action.
